FEDICAMP
These children are lucky. Their grandfather owns a small piece of land. He’s been working with FEDICAMP providing guidance and resources in natural horticulture methods enabling him to provide food for his extended family throughout the year. This farm was fortunate enough to receive a water well, built by FEDICAMP providing his family with water and his small farm with irrigation.
Our site is dedicated to the work of individuals who come from the
rural region of Nicaragua challenged by environmental degradation.
Most struggle to maintain ownership over a small amount of land to enable them to produce enough to provide food to feed extended families. While others (1.5 million people) face the daily challenge of finding and collecting water for the basic need of cooking and cleaning each day.
The challenges are many. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in
Central America, following Haiti. Fostered by centuries of foreign political and transnational corporate domination, what was once a country of rain forests and unlimited natural resources now faces the challenges associated with the consequences of deforestation: drying terrain, soil erosion, water and food shortages.
